There’s something about this photo that always makes me pause. Oscar was still so tiny here—just a sleek little shadow with eyes far too big for his face. Every look he gave the world felt like a question, like he was trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together.
At this age, everything was new. The flicker of sunlight on the floor, the sound of a passing car, the quiet hum of a conversation nearby—every detail held his attention as if it were the most important thing in the universe.
Looking back, I think there’s something we can learn from that kind of curiosity.
To tilt our heads, to see things from a new angle. To wonder about small, ordinary moments as if they’re treasures worth keeping.
Oscar still has that same spark in his gaze, though now it’s often paired with a smirk that says, “I know something you don’t.” But even as a kitten, that glimmer of rascal charm was already there.
“I wasn’t plotting mischief. I was… observing. Yes. Very scientific.”
Check back next week for another memory and pawprint in A Kitten’s Journey.
